Norbury Hall is supporting Dr Anu Dhir, Dr Sarnia Ward and Miss Dinika
Dhir in raising money for Alzheimer's research. On the 3rd of May 2009
they are taking part in the Great West Run - a half marathon (13.1 miles)
course through the city of Exeter.

Alzheimer's disease is one of the commonest forms of dementia. It is a
devastating disease that also affects the family and friends of the person
with the condition. It is characterized by a progressive loss of memory
and concentration, mood swings and introversion.

Over 400,000 people are affected by the condition in Britain and the
numbers are rising due to the ageing population. This is forecast to pose
an ever increasing burden on society in terms of cost and resources.

Most specialists predict that a potential cure will be available within the
next ten years with many promising studies in the pipeline. Funding is
urgently needed to support this research.
